I love sharing stories that show the amazing ways our community shines, and this one
really made me smile. A nonprofit in California called Exceptional Minds is helping autistic adults turn their creativity and attention to detail into real careers in Hollywood!
They train students in visual effects and animation - the behind-the-scenes magic that makes movies look incredible. And it’s working: graduates have worked on huge films like Avengers: Endgame, Star Wars, and Gladiator II, as well as for companies like Marvel, Disney, and Netflix. (Read the article)
What’s really inspiring is how this program focuses on
strengths. Many autistic adults excel at meticulous, detailed work, and this studio helps them channel that talent into something meaningful. But it’s not just technical skills - students also build confidence, workplace communication skills, and independence, giving them the tools to succeed both professionally and personally.
Stories like this remind me that when we focus on what autistic individuals can do - instead of what they can’t - incredible opportunities open up.
I’d love to hear your thoughts or stories too!
